Permitted Development

Permitted development is something which can be utilised for a multitude of developments.

Most commonly, permitted development rights can be utilised by domestic clients who are looking for an extension, or loft conversion, however there are many other options available - from things as simple as erecting a fence or converting offices into dwellings, through to extending an industrial unit.

My past experience involved a lot of conversion work to create dwellings, including converting office space or retail space. For projects concerning permitted development, in most cases I am able to produce the required plans and forms to enable the development, all the way through to completion including building regulations and construction drawings.

More recently, I have been working on a few conversions of properties into single dwellings - see the below images for a couple of examples:

Barn Conversion

This is a project for a private client who owns an agricultural site near Fareham. The building on the site is in agricultural use which is means that there are permitted development rights to convert the building into residential use.

The proposal is to convert the building into a 2-bedroom house for them to live in. As the building has a rather industrial look, it is proposed that the building will be re-clad in modern materials, including panels of brick slips, timber cladding and a standing seam metal roof, all within permitted development rights.

Office Conversion

This project in the New Forest is for the conversion of an office in a residential area.

For permitted development applications the plans required can be relatively simple. As the client was planning to sell the property with permission they were happy with the simplest plans possible to get the forms submitted, so I was able to turn this around for the pretty quickly.
